Wycombe overcame Stoke thanks to a late strike from Jermaine McSporran in a match negatively by a strong gusting wind.

Wycombe started brighter and had several early half-chances. The first serious chance came on 41 minutes, when Michael Simpson was clear through on goal. However, he mis-hit the ball, allowing Neil Cutler to make an easy save.

The referee blew for the foul, with the ball then rolling on into the net. To the dismay of the home support, the score did not stand, with the keeper also escaping a sending off.

Wycombe finally claimed the goal their efforts deserved seven minutes from time, when McSporran finished after being set up by Steve Brown.
