John Eustace and Gerry Taggart were worrying abstentees from the squad once more along with John Halls and Carl Asaba who both had knocks. There were also 4 trialists in the squad with Kurt Elshot, who featured against Newcastle Town, and Malino making starts.

Ed De Goey, Clint Hill and Karl Henry also started in changes from Sunday's match. Dwane Lee,Carl Dickinson and Jay Denny all made appearances in the second half as they seek to make the step up into the first team squad.

It was Wrexham who took the lead after 38 minutes through Llewellyn after good work from Darren Ferguson but just 2 minutes later Noel-Williams headed home Clarke's cross under pressure from the 'keeper.

Both teams made a number of substitutions in the second half after Fifa's ruling about limited subs was changed to apply only to internationals early yesterday evening. This disrupted the flow of the game but Pulis will be pleased that none of his players picked up any knocks and they are that bit closer to fitness.

Next stop Field Mill on Saturday as City take on Mansfield.
