Stoke could and should really have put fans at ease with a victory of more than one goal over Wrexham, instead fans were left biting their nails as Stoke scraped the crutial win in front of 14,000+ supporters - the last home game of the season.

Deon Burton missed a sitter not long before a great run down the left by Marc Goodfellow who crossed in for Andy Cooke to volley home the winner in the 30th minute.

Goodfellow could have had one of his own after another run saw him fire his shot just wide as he hit it across goal on the 34th minute.

Burton did get one on target however, a Clive Clarke cross was headed back into the danger zone by Cooke and Burton, with his back to goal, forced an excellent save from Rodgers.

In the 49th minute, Neil Cutler proved hero when he saved superbly from a low drive.

Man of the moment Chris Iwelumo was given a heroic welcome onto the field in the 80th minute, and his first touch almost bit the back of the net. Bjarni Gudjonson crossed the free-kick and Big Chris got on the end of it forcing another superb save from Rodgers.
