Player Ratings: Wolves 0-1 Stoke

Last updated : 31 January 2011 By Dan Buxton

Thomas Sorensen - 8 - Made a handful of great saves and then, to top it off, stopped a penalty in injury time to secure the win, and a place in the last 16

Andy Wilkinson - 7 - Was as committed and strong as ever and marshalled his wing very well.

Danny Pugh - 7 - Played well in the unnatural position of left back as he kept tight to his marker, played the ball out well from the back and tried nothing stupud

Robert Huth - 8(Man of the Match) - Buried his header to win the game but was a rock in defence, stopping everything on the floor and winning everything in the air. His tackle gave away penalty but it was a referee mistake as the player dived

A.D. Faye - 6 - Was very ropey at times and on more than one occasion in the first period he was caught out over playing in his own defensive third but second half just got rid of the ball

Jon Walters - 7 - Plenty of effort and running although little came from his time spent on the ball

Matthew Etherington - 7 - Looked dangerous on the ball, after a few sub par games recently, and it was his free kick that was headed in by Huth. Nearly broke the deadlock himself on more than one occasion but was denied by Hahnemann

Salif Diao - 5 - Was off the pace, booked very early and two more late slide tackles followed before he was hauled off at half time before he was sent off.

Rory Delap - 7 -  Given the armband and raised his game. Was heavily involved, broke play up well, carried it well and also had a couple of shots blocked. Throw ins were all in the mixer but Hahnemann was confident for most of the bombardment

John Carew - 8 - Held the ball up well and showed some good footwork. Seemed to link up well with both Jones and Fuller to show promise for the future

Kenwyne Jones - 7 - Got stuck in, jumping into headers, chasing defenders and also, after a start where he struggled to get the ball under control, he improved no end and brought his teammates into play

Glenn Whelan - 7 - Came on at half time and helped City get a stronghold on the midfield. Kept it simple and this left Potters able to build attacks through him. Competed well in the tackle

Marc Wilson - 7 - Got stuck in, closed midfielders down, tracked back and looked composed and comfortable, even under intense pressure, when on the ball

Ricardo Fuller - 7 - Looked dangerous and it seemed he wanted a 'worldy' goal on what could turn out to be his final appearance for the club, taking it alone when he perhaps should have laid the ball off to a better placed teammate
