Player Ratings: Tottenham 0-1 Stoke

Last updated : 24 October 2009 By Dan Buxton

Steve Simonsen - 8 - Came in at late notice and gave a fantastic performance. One or two dodgy moments but a clan sheet at White Hart Lane speakls for itself as he made two or three fantastic saves

Andy Wilkinson - 8 - Came in from the cold and slotted back in as if he had never been out of the side. Huth may find it hard to get back in if Wilko keeps playing like this. Faultless and couldn't have asked for any more

Danny Collins - 8 - Really strong and mature display whilst also showing good skill levels when having to pick a pass or carry the ball. Improving all the time

Abdoulaye Faye - 8 - Captains display. Led by example and marshalled defence whilst also doing his own work without any problems

Ryan Shawcross - 8 - A rock at the back in full view of the watching England manager. As with the other members of the defence he was faultless and dealt with Crouch fantastically

Rory Delap - 6 - Disappointing showing before being subbed off early again. Maybe a spell on the bench will help him regroup as so many others have

Matthew Etherington - 8 - Goes from strength to strength and another game where he was a fine outlet for the defence, relieving so much pressure throughout. Can be happy with anothr good game versus former side

Dean Whitehead - 7 - Combative, pessing and snappy in the tackle. Just about sums him up today, and most days, as his effort is never in question and in games like this he is the right man

Salif Diao - 8(Man of the Match) - Just where has he found this form. Spent so long out and just comes back with the best form of his Stoke career. More than deservong of his place in the side at the minbute and was here, there and everywhere once again, not letting the midfield dictate and winning his battle with Palacios

James Beattie - 7 - Plenty of effort and will want to know how that first minute chance didn't reach him but gave plenty of effort. Linked up play well when it was near him as game opened up after he went off. Two goalline clearances was just as important as if he had scored two himself

Ricardo Fuller - 8 - Full of energy and running. Seems people are starting to notice the effort now and he left enough in the tank for that late run and sublime nutmeg that allowed him to tee up Whelan for the winner

Subs

Glenn Whelan - 7 - Fantastic goal and good effort and discipline during time on the pitch. Will be hoping he can push himself back into the first XI for next weeks big derby

Tuncay - 7 - Got involved at every opportunity. Was greedy once or twice but this may stem from his lack of time on the pitch and he may feel he needed to do something eye catching

Danny Higginbotham - 6 - Sent on really late to steady the ship and see out the victory
