Player Ratings: Stoke City 3-0 Maccabi Tel-Aviv

Last updated : 22 October 2011 By Dan Buxton

Thomas Sorensen - 7 - Very little to do at all but looked comfortable and in control when needed

Robert Huth - 7 - Very solid game at full back and even ventured forward once or twice, bulldozing his way through

Marc Wilson - 7 - Calm and confident on the ball as usual and was solid in defence as well as taking every opportunity to get forward

Ryan Shawcross - 7 - Kept the opposition at bay with ease and never looked in any danger

Matthew Upson - 8 - One superb tackle to deny Maccabi on the one occasion they looked dangerous and was also very good on the ball aswell as off the ball

Ryan Shotton - 8(Man of the Match) - Was solid in helping out the full back and filling in when Huth bombed on aswell as looking dangerous in the final third. Good crosses and cool finish added the third to kill the game

Matthew Etherington - 6 - Still looks scared of taking people on and running at defenders but did keep the ball well. One or two runs second half maybe are the start of a return to top form

Salif Diao - 7 - Very solid in the middle as he kept the ball ticking over and also stopped Maccabi building any attacks of note

Dean Whitehead - 7 - Never stopped running and chasing whilst he also spread the play well and had one or two shots himself but tired towards the end

Cameron Jerome - 7 - Started well, used his pace to torment the home defence. Hit the bar, had a header cleared off the line, scored a header and also rounded the keeper before unselfishly playing in Shotton before controversial sending off before half time

Kenwyne Jones - 8 - Won everything in the air, got up well for the opening goal, laid the ball off to team mates and looked fresh and full of energy. Slowed after sending off but the game was won and he needed to save energy playing as a lone striker. Unlucky not to have beaten keeper with at least one more shot.

Andy Wilkinson - 7 - Came on and looked positive. Saw the game as an opportunity to open his Potters account, bombing forward whenever possible, but still in search of that elusive strike

Jon Walters - 6 - Came on to add fresh legs to the wing and ran the clock down well

Wilson Palacios - 7 - Added fresh bite to a tiring midfield and was able to blow off his cobwebs ahead of a possible start on Sunday. One driving run and through ball looks very promising for the future
