Player Ratings: Stoke City 0-0 Chelsea

Asmir Begovic - 9(Man of the Match) - Brilliant! Made a trio of world class saves and complemented that with great handling, some smart easier saves and accurate distribution. Showed exactly why we didn't want to sell him to Chelsea 12 months ago

Robert Huth - 8 - Another terrific defensive display as he failed to let Malouda or Anelka past and stayed strong throughout the match. Also won a couple of headers in the opposition box in search of the opener

Marc Wilson - 7 - Defensively was sound, staying strong in the tackle and not allowing the opposition to beat him but he did give the ball away twice in very dangerous areas when an easy out ball was available

Ryan Shawcross - 8 - Picked up an early booking for a swipe at Torres but stayed composed and helped make life as difficult as can be for the Spanish striker. Made some vital tackles to deny the Londoners

Jonathan Woodgate - 9 - Another brilliant defensive display as he showed again great awareness and the ability to position himself in the right place to defend. Distribution was ropey but I'm sure that will improve with games

Jermaine Pennant - 6 - Wasn't really at the races as he dallied on the ball, failed to pick the right passes and was missing for long periods. However he did track back well and delivery from corners was, in the main, very good

Matthew Etherintgon - 7 - Looked dangerous and put some great balls into the box. Worked back and helped out the defence before shoulder injury ended his match

Glenn Whelan - 8 - Some superb passing to switch the play and also he made vital tackles inside the area that could so easily have gone wrong

Rory Delap - 8 - Was the right man in the right place throughout the game as he tracked runs, timed tackles to perfection and stopped Chelsea time after time as they attempted to come forward. Hopefully his hamstring injury isn't serious

Jon Walters - 7 - Another display full of effort and with the odd bit of skill, ie leaving Terry for dead...twice, chucked in aswell. Unlucky with penalty shout

Kenwyne Jones - 8 - Got battered around by Alex and Terry but won his share of headers and run himself into the ground before being subbed late on after tiring

Dean Whitehead - 7 - Came on for injured Etherington and immediately got to work in the middle, putting himself about and getting from box to box to try and help out City's attack and defence

Danny Pugh - 6 - Quiet display as he just kept the side ticking over out on the left during the last quarter

Ryan Shotton - 7 - Came on up front again late in the day and played well, knocking the ball down for a teammate more than once and making a couple of intelligent runs. Also had a couple of lengthy and dangerous long throws
