Player Ratings: Stoke 4-3 Blackpool

Last updated : 22 September 2009 By Dan Buxton

Steve Simonsen - 6 - Can't really be faulted for any of the goals and pulled off a couple of saves for keep City in it

Andy Wilkinson - 7 - Getting better and better going forward, completing a big part of what was missing from his game. Defended solidly aswell after weekend bug

Andy Griffin - 8 - Last ditch winner was deserved after strong display in defence and attack. Good first start of the season

Danny Higginbotham - 6 - Lost a lot of headers with Burgess and gave away a few free kicks. Thats the difference between the level of Faye, Shawcross and Huth and the level of Higgy and Cort

Leon Cort - 6 - looked very rusty and in need of some games. Heading was a bit erratic and didn't look too comfortable on the ball

Liam Lawrence - 7 - Tried too hard if anything. Good set pieces as always but penalty was a bad one, after he fought off Beattie and Tuncay for the right to take it. Hoped to impress and showed commitment and will to win. Kept team going at 0-2

Tom Soares - 7 - Quiet first half but came alive in second. Will be disappointed he came off when he did as he was fully fired up. Good delivery and best performance since Spurs at home last season

Diego Arismendi - 7 - Settled in well. Never quite got the chance to display how he got the nickname 'The Destroyer' but was tidy, pressured well and showed a good eye for a pass. Promising display, especially considering early hamstring injury

Danny Pugh - 7 - Typical performance from all action midfielder. Never afraid of putting a foot in and relished the midfield battle. Some good runs going forward and a couple of rasping shots tested the keeper

James Beattie - 6 - Nothing going for him at the minute. Should have broke the net when one on one but weakly chipped over. Goal would do him the world of good

Tuncay - 8 - Everything but a goal. Won a penalty, had numerous chances, never stopped running and linked play up well. Very promising signs

Subs

Michael Tonge - 6 - Quiet game. Never really got into game. Was unlucky with a shot in final minutes but would have hoped for more

Ricardo Fuller - 8(Man Of The Match) - Quite simply unplayable at that level. Showed just how muich he has improved from the striker he was 18 months ago and he made that made that division look easy back then. Was central to everything and pace and tenacity forced defence into mistakes. Hopefully groin injury is minor and he is fit for Saturday

Matthew Etherington - 8 - Initial few touches showed lack of confidence and belief but once he realised he could go past his full back he was a different player. Goal seemed to put a apring in his step and hopefully he will take this form on with him into Saturdays big game
