Player Ratings: Stoke 4-0 Newcastle

Last updated : 21 March 2011 By Dan Buxton

Asmir Begovic - 8 - Made a couple of crucial saves and preserved the Potters lead before the break

Marc Wilson - 8 - Was comfortable and calm on the ball, and bar one occasion when Ameobi bundled him into the stand, he was strong and solid in defence

Danny Higginbotham - 8 - Scored another bullet free kick and was solid in defence, nothing got past him

Ryan Shawcross - 7 - Had a bit of an iffy game but seeing as he was up against the awkward Ameobi he can't be criticised too much

Robert Huth - 7 - Was strong at the back but was flustered during the crazy period of pressure before half time

Jermaine Pennant - 8 - Set up the first and then opened his Potters accont to double the lead and was a constant thorn in the Magpies side. Put some terrific deliveries in and also tracked back well.

Matthew Etherington - 7 - Not his best game but still troubled the full back when he ran at him. Seemed tired after his recent lay off and was given a well earnt rest with 25 to go

Rory Delap - 6 - Passing wasn't great but covered a lot of ground. The away midfield sat a bit deeper so he didn't really get chance to put as many tackles in as normal

Glenn Whelan - 8 - Spread the play well, harrassed the opposition where possible and had another good game to back up last weeks excellent performance

Jon Walters - 8 - Scored the crucial opener and covered so much ground to press the Magpies defence. Great flick on to Fuller for the fourth

Kenwyne Jones - 8(Man of the Match) - Worked his socks off, took his usual kicks and knocks but got back up and kept going. His closing down of the keeper won the ball for the second goal and it was a foul on him that won the free kick for Higgy's goal

Danny Pugh - 6 - Came on for Etherington and had a quiet, but solid game so Stoke saw out a comfortable win

Dean Whitehead - 6 - Was brought on for fresh legs and kept the midfield tight, putting himself about

Ricardo Fuller - 7 - Came on with a couple of minutes left and scored the fourth, racing onto a Walters flick and smashing the ball past the keeper on the day he went joint top with Sidibe for most Stoke appearances by a current squad member
