Player Ratings: Stoke 1-1 Liverpool

Last updated : 16 January 2010 By Dan Buxton

Thomas Sorenson - 5 - Only had one save to make, and he made a hash of it to gift Liverpool a goal. Kicking was erratic aswell

Robert Huth - 7 - Kept away the danger both down the left and then in the middle when he was moved inside. Scored the last gasp dramatic equaliser but could have then given away an even later penalty

Danny Higginbotham - 6 - Passing was erratic but was fairly solid in defence and only the dramatic going to ground of Lucas saved him from giving away a penalty

A.D. Faye - 6 - Started well, was solid and looking better than he has been. Maybe its a motivational thing this season as his previous best games came against Chelsea and Manchester United. Unlucky that he had to come off after getting injured making a sliding tackle

Ryan Shawcross - 8 - Won everything in the air and was always there to mop up on the floor. Another top performance that stopped anything getting near the Potters goal.

Rory Delap - 6 - Put the effort in but again looked like a fish out of water on the right wing. His throw ins looked dangerous and forced Reina into action on a number of times early on. Subbed off after half an hour when he picked up a knock.

Salif Diao - 6 - Was there to pressure and after a bad start, he was amazingly off the pace, he settled into the game and kept the ball moving late on as he got a bit of time when the Reds dropped deep.

Dean Whitehead - 8 - Probably the main reason we got a point as he snuffed out real danger on three occasions when the defence were outnumbered by attackers and the energetic midfielder was always there to hold play up and then time the tackle to perfection, none more so than in injury time when, with a 5 on 2 attack on the City goal, he pushed Gonzalez wider and wider before stepping across taking the ball and playing it down the line to Lawrence.

Matthew Etherington - 8 - Corners and free kicks were dangerous and early on he was a menace, going past Carragher and getting crosses in for fun but once Liverpool doubled up on him he found it hard as the Potters gave him little support to try and play little triangles to get away. Still most dangerous midfielder by a mile.

Mama Sidibe - 4 - Was very poor. Hardly got on the end of anything, mistimed numerous jumps and thenm second half seemed to get in the way of Tuncay and Etherington, doing the job better than any Liverpool defender.

Tuncay - 6 - Didn't get the service. Long balls were lumped up towards both him and Sidibe and the ones that Sidibe did win were directed nowhere near him whilst it was hard for him to beat Skrtel and Kyrigiakos in the air and then get onto the second ball

Liam Lawrence - 6 - Plenty of running but maybe too much as he seemed to get sucked into chasing the ball. Was put through by Tuncay at the end of the first half but failed to take chance early and defenders recovered. Set pieces were ok.

Andy Wilkinson - 7 - Had the confidence to bomb forward when the opportunity arrived and was solid as ever in defence. Only lost one tackle and that was a debatable free kick where he seemed to win the ball.

Ricardo Fuller - 8(Man of the Match) - Completely changed the game when he came on for the final half an hour. The visitors had contained Tuncay and Etherington well knowing that attack wise there was not much else to worry about but once he came on he used his pace and power to great effect and won numerous corners and free kicks. The only way they stopped him was to haul him down.
