Player Ratings: Stoke 1-0 Portsmouth

Last updated : 23 November 2009 By Dan Buxton

Thomas Sorenson - 7 - Solid game. Good guess work for penalty save and a couple of other saves kept the clean sheets intact.

Andy Wilkinson - 8(Man of the Match) - Undroppable. Has come in time and again and gets better and better every time. Fantastic in defence and showing himself as more of an attacking threat. Would have been a definate goal of the season contender if he could have kept it an inch or two lower late on.

Danny Collins - 6 - Distribtuon was poor and frequently put his side under pressure but defensively was solid and was part of a defensive unit that were strong throughout

Ryan Shawcross - 7 - Another fantastic display from the future England star. Took on the captains armband and marshalled the defence fantastically. Was busy at the other end aswell.

Robert Huth  - 7 - Showed how good a player he actually is as he started at centre back for the first time. Worked well with Shawcross and has given manager Tony Pulis a headache as to whether the out of form Faye returns next week.

Rory Delap - 5 - Another poor showing on the wing. He just isn't a winger but did improve when he moved into the middle as he broke up play better.

Matthew Etherington - 7 - Not as good as he has been recently but still the Potters best outlet for the first hour. Suffered from the strange decision to play him on the right wing until Lawrence came on and also from the lack of movement and service around him. Great play for the goal.

Salif Diao - 6 - Broke up play well and harrassed the opposition but lack of movement and outlets made him put too many hopeful balls forward that came to nothing.

Dean Whitehead - 5 - Disappointing performance. Was lucky to stay on the field after one reckless challenge and other wise was a bit anonymous. Not his usual energetic self

James Beattie - 5 - Not fit and it shows. Both forwards struggled as a lack of support and service made their job so difficult.

Ricardo Fuller - 7 - Opened his account for the season in style and won the game for the Potters. Had a quiet game before that as he barely had scraps in the first hour before Lawrence's introduction.

Subs

Liam Lawrence - 8 - Completely changed the game when he came on. Got the ball down on the deck and made use of Fuller's ability. Defended well aswell and very nearly got Man of the Match

Mama Sidibe - 7 - Gave a good outlet and linked up play well. Fans were willing him to finish the chance he did have.

Tuncay - 6 - Good effort when he came on. Got knocked off the ball a bit easily but quality is obviously there
