Last updated : 02 October 2010 By Dan Buxton

Thomas Sorensen - 6 - came and punched a lot and maybe should have caught a few more. Kicking improved from last week at Newcastle

Robert Huth - 6 - Disappointing first half as he was off the pace and seemed rushed but improved after the break and was a vital cog as City picked up their first clean sheet of the season

Abdoulaye Faye - 7 - Was good on the ball and seemed to be in the right place at the right time on numerous occasions

Ryan Shawcross - 7 - Form is picking up again after his early season drop off but not at his very best yet. Was solid and mainly dependable.

Danny Collins - 7 - Cracking game at left back as he continues to nail down the position as his own. Is calm on the ball, doesn't dive into a tackle and his attacking play is improving

Jermaine Pennant - 8 - Crossing was immense and he battled away whilst on the pitch. Got back and helped the defence and then was a constant threat going forward

Rory Delap - 7 - Got up and down and did the dirty work. Took a few short throws but had a few quiet spells aswell

Dean Whitehead - 8 - Top notch performance from the midfielder, he was always there when needed in defence and was often found in the final third, making lung busting runs in order to add an extra body to the attack. Tackles were well timed and passing was accurate

Matthew Etherington - 9(Man of the Match) - Relieves so much pressure from the defence with his fantastic dribbling skills. Crosses were always on target and he must be the most in form winger in the league after yet another assist

Jon Walters - 7 - Took his goal fabulously and never stopped running throughout. Pressure he put on the away defence stopped them playing the ball out and forced them into rushed clearances. Brought the ball down well and played in others when possible

Kenwyne Jones - 8 - Won numerous headers again and was unlucky not to score after going close on at least five occasions. Could well have had a hat trick before the half hour mark

Ricardo Fuller - 7 - Looked lively after coming on, linking up well with Jones, and tormented the away defence on one occasion before just failing to net a second

Marc Wilson - 6 - Few touches but helped see out the win

Glenn Whelan - 6 - Introduction helped run down the clock and was there to see out injury time and help claim the win
