Last updated : 23 May 2011 By Dan Buxton

Asmir Begovic - 7 - Looked comfortable and secure in the nets, distributed the ball well but had little chance with goal. Made one superb, brave save in second half

Andy Wilkinson - 7 - Bombed forward time and again in the first half but got beat too easy for the goal

Marc Wilson - 6 - Had a quiet afternoon, didn't really get involved too much

Ryan Shawcross - 8 - Put in a leaders performance in the absence of Huth, mopping up superbly at the back and winning the ball time and time again

Danny Collins - 6 - Retained his place and although he looked better than he did at Eastlands on Tuesday still had more than his fair share of nervy moments

Jermaine Pennant - 7 - Returned and was heavily involved in the first period before being less influential aftr the break. Some great deliveries into the box

Matthew Etherington - 7 - Looked nearly back to his best after his hamstring injury as he turned his full back inside out during the hour he was on the field. Seemed to be running out if steam before being subbed but a welcome sight to see him terrorising defences once more

Glenn Whelan - 8(Man of the Match) - Sprayed the ball around well and produced some fantastic balls to switch the play from one side of the field to the other. Tackling was vital as he helped win the midfield battle for the Potters for long periods, especially in the opening period

Rory Delap - 6 - Won a couple of balls in the midfield and throw ins were accurate and dangerous, causing major panic in the Wigan defence but other than that had a quiet afternoon

Jon Walters - 7 - Seemed to be lacking that extra level of energy he usually has but was a danger when involved and had the Latics retreating when in possession. Had an early goal disallowed for offside

Kenwyne Jones - 7 - Was a danger to begin with, having a shot cleared off the line and also winning a few flick ons but was pulled, pushed, kicked and climbed over all afternoon with nothing from the ref

Dean Whitehead - 6 - Made one or two eye catching tackles but was largely anonymous as Wigan began to get a strangehold on the game

John Carew - 6 - Never really got going as Wigan scored straight after his introduction and then saw out the game
