Player Ratings: Newcastle Town 0-6 Stoke

Last updated : 24 July 2010 By Dan Buxton

Carlo Nash - 7 - Had one save to do which he did competently, hardly touched the ball otherwise

Robert Huth - 7 - Was solid and got up and down the wing well, putting in crosses and understandably playing with freedom. Solid and dominant when he moved inside aswell

Danny Higginbotham - 7 - Got forward well, looked more composed on the ball and whipped in a couple of good crosses

Ryan Shawcross - 7 - Kept the ball moving well and marshalled the 'Castle attackers well

A.D. Faye - 7 - Ditto Shawcross

Michael Tonge - 7 - Wandered a bit a usual and seemed to be frustrated first half. Great back post header from a deep cross was superbly saved by keeper before he coolly slotted in the fourth in the second half

Matthew Etherington - 8 - Teased the defenders all game, inside, outside, crossing, dribbling, shooting, squaring they had no idea what he was going to do. Some great deliveries but did hold onto the ball too long at times looking for the spectacular

Danny Pugh - 7 - Worked hard in the midfield, winning the ball back countless times and playing it wide. Made some good forward runs and looked to influence the game in the final third

Dean Whitehead - 7 - Ditto Pugh plus a one on one chance that was well saved

Mama Sidibe - 6 - Struggled really to get his game together. Touch was lacking a bit, ball bobbled away a lot and his shooting was woeful. Due to the opposition the ball was on the deck a lot more and so his strengths weren't needed

Ricardo Fuller - 7 - Looked for that eye catching goal but was crowded out more often than not as he looked to get a yard of space to shoot. Fantastic back post header for his goal and had another great header tipped away by the keeper in the first half

Thomas Sorensen - 6 - Had one half hearted effort to keep out but was a spectator for the rest of the time

Rory Delap - 7 - Got up and down the touchline well, overlapping like an experienced right back, and had one one on one effort saved whilst also moving the ball well

Danny Collins - 6 - Was solid and dependable, making sure he didn't make any mistakes before going forward late on

Liam Lawrence  - 7 - Worked hard on the right, good touches and confident display, much like the old Liam. Combined well with Tonge and Moult with quick exchanges. Fantastic pass for Tonge's goal

Glenn Whelan - 6 - Kept things ticking over as Potters superior fitness started to show

Tuncay - 8 - Scored a hat trick of close range finishes. Twice put on a plate by Moult before stepover allowed him to slide in his hat trick

Louis Moult - 8(Man of the Match) - Ran his legs off, worked the defenders, was strong, confident and two superb runs saw him breeze past defenders before allowing Tuncay to tap in
