Player Ratings: Cardiff 0-2 Stoke

Last updated : 21 January 2011 By Dan Buxton

Thomas Sorensen - 6 - Had nothing to do but kicked well and handling was good aswell

Ryan Shotton - 7 - Had a solid game again as he looked composed on the ball, strong in the tackle and put some good balls into the box

Danny Collins - 7 - Faultless display once he moved into the centre of defence but the hosts offered very little threat throughout

Danny Higginbotham - 6 - Had an assured display before pulled hamstring ended his night early after just 9 minutes

Abdoulaye Faye - 7 - Looked better for a long rest as he took calculatwed, rather than stupid, risks with the ball and what little danger came City's way was thwarted by Faye and his fellow defenders

Jermaine Pennant - 6 - Plenty of huff and puff but little end result on a frustrating night for the winger

Danny Pugh - 6 - Looked set for a spell on the wing but an early injury to Higginbotham saw him drop into left back. Looked shakey at times and positional sense did allow the hosts to put in a few crosses/shots that could have been fatal

Glenn Whelan - 6 - Poor as he struggled to stamp his mark on the game and passing was ropey at best

Salif Diao - 6 - Lucky not to be sent off after an early booking was followed by two late slide tackles. Did win his share of tackles though and did the simple stuff when he had the ball at his feet

Jon Walters - 8(Man of the Match) - Scored the two vital goals, both expertly finished off to put the Potters through and looked like he could play for another two hours at the final whistle.

Ricardo Fuller - 6 - Some neat touches and flicks but ultimately a bad night at the office as he just couldn't get himself into the high gears

Michael Tonge - 5 - Offered very little after coming on in the first ten minutes and disappointed after getting a chance to remind the manager of his skills

Marc Wilson - 7 - Came on and changed the game, allowing City to control the midfield and spread the play well aswell as getting stuck in when needed]

Tom Soares - 7 - Looked lively when he came on and without a few nerves could well have grabbed the winner, first touch saw a shot cleared off the line and then the ball got caught between his legs after being put through on goal
