Player Ratings: Bolton 2-1 Stoke

Last updated : 16 October 2010 By Dan Buxton

Thomas Sorensen - 6 - Couple of good punches, kicking was better, but was at fault for both goals, poor throw out for first and should have claimed the second. Also was lucky when he dropped the ball to Davies right in front of goal.

Robert Huth - 7 - Won a lot in the air but did drift inside allowing Petrov the time and space to put numerous crosses in

Danny Collins - 8(Man of the Match) - Very solid, good in the air, no nonsense defending, comfortable bringing the ball out and usually found a Stoke shirt with his distribution

A.D. Faye - 8 - Very good in the air and on the deck as he continued his recent good form. Unlucky with the opener, should never have been given the ball and made a good tackle but a rebound gave the ball back to the opponent.

Ryan Shawcross - 7 - Coped well with the threat of Davies and won his share of headers but just looked like he was lacking gthat extra bit of control that we have come to expect with the big defender.

Jermaine Pennant - 7 - Winger was heavily involved, his corner led to the Potters goal, and had the defence running scared when he got his head down and ran at them. Lacked a bit of support at times but more promise from a man still finding his City feet. Crossing is fantastic, inch perfect every time

Matthew Etherington - 7 - Once again was dangerous as he looked to add to his already heavy bag of assists this season. Lacked a bit of fortune today as the ball got stuck under his feet once in front of goal and bobbled away another time when he went to go past his full back. Crossing, as with Pennant, was inch perfect once again

Rory Delap - 6 - Scored the equaliser but negated that effort by giving away a illy free kcik in the build up to the Bolton winner, and then did a poor header when given the chance to clear the ball away. Had an otherwise quiet game in open play

Dean Whitehead - 6 - Did the dirty work as usual, was denied one chance by a superb tackle after breaking into the Bolton box, but wasn't really involved until getting booked late on, triggering a one game ban

Jon Walters - 6 - Looked lively and was full of effort and running but didn't get the run of the green. Unlucky when his pressure won the ball off Robinson, putting him in on goal, only to be pulled back by a poor referee

Kenwyne Jones - 7 - Was given the task of winning the aerial battle with the giants of Cahill and Knight and stood upto the task well. Was climbed over all game but still managed to win his fair share, put in a lot of running and set up many attacks but also gave the ball away with a poor first touch on a few occasions

Ricardo Fuller - 6 - Came on, looked as dangerous as ever, was possibly a bit greedy on a couple of occasions but was then forced off injured after injuring his shoulder once again

Eidur Gudjohnsen - 6 - Looked good on the ball, and looked fitter than before the break, but still a bit to go before he can be considered for a start

Glenn Whelan - 6 - Very little time to do anything
