Nantwich 1-2 Stoke

A young Potters side got City's first pre-season victory as a first half double from seventeen-year-old striker Louis Moult set up the victory.

The Potters lost this fixture 2-0 last season but there was no repeat this time round as they quickly got to work on getting match fit for the start of the season and, with new signing Florent Cuvelier putting in a Man of the Match performance in the centre of midfield, Stoke were able to dominate the middle of the park.

The two teenagers signed from Crewe last summer, Matthew Lund and Ben Marshall were also in the midfield and both grabbed an assist each. First Lund slid in Moult, fifteen yards out, and the locally born hitman found the net with ease to open the scoring.

The lead was doubled on thirty seven minutes when Marshall's inviting cross was nodded in by the lethal Moult to give the Potters some breathing space.

Marshall twice went close, along with Moult and Lund, to adding a third but with the result as good as certain both sides dropped offin the second period, although Nantwich got a fantastic consolation in injury time when a 35 yard free kick from Jake Sedgemore flew past Danzelle St. Louis-Hamilton in the Potters goal and into the back of the net.
