The FA Cup is not Stoke's favourite competition at all. We have now become one of the 'regulars' to getting knocked out in the first round, last year at Nuneaton for instance. Stoke have also never won the FA Cup in their long history.
Today they had something to prove. Tuesdays 6-1 defeat has to be this seasons 'game to forget' and Gudjon Thordarson put out that same side plus Gunnarson, returning from his absense. His wife concieved his first child. Stoke gave Lewes all the respect that they would a second division side and its a good job they did as Lewes put up a good fight.
Stoke came out winners, one goal in each half saw the potters take the ticket to the next round at Halifax.
The Goals..
Goal number one was scored by Peter Handyside. Bjarni Gudjonson's cross was pulled back into the box by Shtanyuk, Gunnarson helped it on and Handyside headed home from 2 yards.
The Second Goal was scored by Brynjar 'Goal Machine' Gunnarson (Scoring in 4 of his last 5 appearances). Again a corner, this time by the Boothen End. 57th Minute goal scored by a leaping header from Gunnarson after a good cross by Jurgen VanDoerzen.
