The Potters had beaten Portsmouth's reserve side 4-0 barely 36 hours prior to this game and the tiredness was evident as they were made to chase the game. City refused to give up though and did have chances of their own but went down to a credible defeat to West Brom, who rise to 2nd in the league on the back of this game.
