Director of football John Rudge told the official website: "Mark did very well while he was here and we are very grateful for Steve McClaren co-operation in allowing him to join us.
"But he has had a previous problem with his shoulder and it seems it will be a while before he regains full fitness.
"If he had stayed he would have been missing games while he got over the injury."
