"We have listened to the fans and decided upon a number of changes to be made. One of these is to change the name because it's clear that many supporters do not like the current one. This was not the intention and we have decided that if the name makes some supporters unhappy we will change it."
We are asking fans to email their suggestions of a new name to pressbox@stokecityfc.com to be received by Monday 14 February.
A shortlist will then be drawn up and displayed on www.oatcake.co.uk <http://www.oatcake.co.uk> as the website's question of the week.
Fans can register their vote to choose the new name from Monday 14 February to Thursday 17 February.
Further changes to the scheme will be announced in the week commencing 21 February.
