Jones was the first of Tony Pulis' summer signings at the Britannia Stadium but he was followed by two more forwards in Jon Walters and Eidur Gudjohnsen plus a winger, Jermaine Penannt and midfielder, Marc Wilson.
Jones believes being able to attract players like Gudjohnsen is a sign of how far the club have come and what their aims are for the future.
and hopefully that will add something different," said Jones.
"The club showed its ambition by getting in type of players they did.
"We have a few more players with a bit more class and experience of playing for big clubs and hopefully that will be allowed to shine throughout the team.
"Eidur has played for some massive clubs and definitely has some class and I am learning off him."
As well as Gudjohnsen and Walters, Jones will also be battling with Ricardo Fuller and Tuncay for a place up front, yet the former Sunderland star is relishing the competition.
He added: "Whoever plays up front you have to be able to strike up a partnership to be able to push your club forward but the end product is we have to score goals and win games.
"It is always good to have quality within the team and having it is going to help any striker and I will be able to score some goals.
"Competition for any football club is healthy, it is only going to bring the best out of you and the team as a whole - more than anything else you would want competition."
Jones has returned to full fitness after sustaining an ankle injury in Stoke's opening day loss to Wolves and is expected to feature at home to Aston Villa on Monday.
After three defeats and no points the Trinidad and Tobago international knows they have to make matches at the Britannia Stadium count.
"Stoke have been a mainstay in the Premier League since coming up and fair play to them," he added.
"They have made strides since coming up and they have had some decent finishes and that shows the quality of the club.
"Now we have a stronger team attacking-wise and hopefully that will show.
"Stoke is strong at home and we have three home games coming up (West Ham and Fulham are the others) and so hopefully we will be able to kick the season off on Monday.
"It is a long season and we can achieve a top-10 finish."
