Stoke City vs Wigan

Last updated : 03 January 2003 By Rob Stanway
Stoke may be boosted by their new found winning ability but next up are high flyers Wigan who have won 18 of their 25 league games so far this season and have lost only two.

In the Worthington Cup, confident Wigan beat Northampton, West Brom (3-1), Man City (1-0) and Fulham (2-1) before losing eventually to Blackburn (0-2) but noticably all at the JJB Stadium.

So far in the FA Cup they have beaten Hereford Utd away (0-1) and this is where the 'big-boys' join the competition.

Stoke City were a team playing well and turning teams over but not picking up results and not making their attacking spells count by adding the goals. Now, The Potters seem to be on a roll. They've won 2/2 and are slowly climbing out of the relegation zone. The next challenge for Stoke is to see if they can extend this winning run to the cup and put Wigan back down to size.
