Stoke City 1 Coventry 2

Stoke badly needed the points this afternoon and somehow stay 3rd from bottom with a draw between the sides below us.

13 Games without a win see's the potters get even more desperate. Wayne Thomas and Brynjar Gunnarsson were sent off in the second half.

15 mins Jay Bothroyd got on the end of a cracking pass and left all alone curled the ball past Steve Banks putting Coventry 1-0 up.

20 mins Bothroyd again with a goal but it was a defensive error which caused the goal. Marcus Hall dived in un-necessarily and it was just a case of Bothroyd bringing it into the penalty area and placing a similar strike past Banks.

Just after the half hour Peter Hoekstra pulled one back with a deflected free kick but had to be substituted later in the game.

Stoke mounted pressure in the second half but just couldn't get that goal which we needed.

This was the worst refereeing performance I have ever seen at the Britannia Stadium - 12 Yellow Cards and 2 Reds in a game which had no bad tackles although a particular number 7 for Coventry deserved to be booked for diving, but Coventry as a whole were looking for free kicks all the time.

12,760 watched the potters slump to their 9th defeat in 10 games.
