Sonko in, Parkin out, More to follow?

Ibrahima Sonko became Tony Pulis' 7th signing of the summer, joining in a £2.25m deal from Reading. The Senegalese centre half joins former team mate Dave Kitson, fellow Senegal players Abdoulaye Faye and Amdy Faye, and Thomas Sorenson, Andrew Davies, Seyi Olifinjana, as new recruits.

Going out of the club at the same time are Jon Parkin, who has joined Preston North End in a £500,000 deal, and Anthony Pulis who has joined Southampton on a free transfer. Neither player was a first team regular last year and with the team strengthening going on after promotion neither was likely to feature very much during the coming campaign.

It seems likely that one or two other fringe players may leave the club tomorrow, although there are no clubs being linked currently. However, with regards to players coming in there are plenty of names flying around. There are strong links with Jon Walters at Ipswich and Joe Ledley at Cardiff, although many other players have been mentioned such as Kevin Kilbane (Wigan), Sami Hyppia and Jermaine Pennant (Liverpool), Danny Higginbotham and Dean Whitehead (Sunderland), Nikola Zigic (Valencia) and loan deals for Kanga Akale and Haminu Dramani.

It seems that Tony Pulis would like at least a couple of further signings by Monday night, with the most likely areas to be filled being full-back, left wing and another striker.
