City star Ryan Shawcross has admitted that he is in talks with the Potters hierachy about a renewed deal.

Shawcross, 21, has become a key player since joining the club from Manchester United two years ago. The centre back has made his England U21 debut in the past 12 months and has fought back from a bad start to last season to form a strong partnership with captain Abdoulaye Faye.

The goal scoring stopper has twelve strikes for the Potters, in 85 appearances, including the first Potters goal of this season in the opening day win over Burnley.

The contract talks come about after summer media reports linked Shawcross with numerous top sides, including Liverpool and Everton, with a price tag as much as £10m being banded about.
