Shawcross Called Up By England?

City defender Ryan Shawcross is reportedly set to be included in Fabio Capello's squad for next weeks qualifiers at home to Bulgaria and away in Switzerland.

Shawcross was called up late last season, on the same day as he was sent off for the tackle that injured Aaron Ramsey, but remained an unused substitute for the friendly.

If he is involved in the squad, and its only whispers at the minute, it will be his first call up to the national squad for a meaningful game.

The ex-Manchester United defender's chances of playing may well have been improved after John Terry limped to the end of Chelsea's victory over Stoke this afternoon, following a sliding 50/50 tackle with Rory Delap where the Irishman caught the disgraced former England captain with studs to the knee and down his leg.

The squad is set to be announced this evening
