The Potters opened strongly and controlled the game up until a break saw John Askey head into the back of the net from a cross from the right wing midway through the first half.

The Potters keeper gave away a penalty taking Robinson down which Hardy took, and that was 2-0.

In the second half began without Robinson (fouled by Alcock for the pen).

Macclesfield extended their lead further David Eaton ran onto a through ball and slid it past 'keeper Danny Alcock for their third.

Hardy stepped up for another penalty for Macc's fourth. John Askey being pulled back in the box was spotted by the referee.

Substitute Swift grabbed some consolation for the Potters, Pouncing on a loose ball after a save from Macc's keeper Martin.

This leaves Stoke bottom of their group on 0 points after 2 games, with a Goal Difference of -5.
