Race Starts For City Wing Ace

City teenage ace Ben Marshall short term future is already being discussed, with Championship clubs chasing the speedy star.

Marshall, 19, has progressed fantastically this season and after outstanding loan spells at Northampton and Cheltenham prior to Christmas he joined League One Carlisle in January and has become an integral part of the Cumbrian sides first XI.

The pacey star can play on either wing or up front and has found the net seven times this season in over thirty appearances and, ahead of Carlisle's final game of the season against Norwich, Carlisle manager Greg Abbott has expressed his desire to bring him back to Brunton Park next season but also admitted that the Potters have already had enquiries from Championship sides as to the availability of the ex-Crewe man.

Abbott is hoping the lure of guaranteed first team football will see Marshall return North but the Potters may decide they want him to move up a level into the second tier.

Marshall will no doubt return to the City squad for pre-season and train in and around the first team, playing in a few friendlies, before weighing up his options and deciding whether to try and force his way into the first team or, more likely, move out on loan.
