Pulis urges patience over signings

There has been little business done by Premier League clubs so far this summer, partly because of the World Cup in South Africa, and Stoke are among the clubs yet to make their first signing.

Pulis is confident things will pick up before long, though, and is hardly worrying about the lack of action after only returning to work over the weekend.

He told the Stoke Sentinel: "It's the phoney season with transfers at the moment, so there is a lot going on beneath the surface, but few people are making a move.

"We are aware of who is and who isn't available, but agents and players are still dipping their toes in the water and not committing themselves just yet.

"That will change as time goes on. It's just a case of everyone being patient and then hoping we can get who we want when people start making firm decisions."

Stoke have made early moves this summer but their top strike target Carlton Cole decided to wait until after the World Cup to make a decision on his future and other players have taken a similar stance.

One player that could soon be on the move, however, is out-of-contract Cardiff midfielder Joe Ledley, who Pulis made a £6million bid for two summers ago.

The Potters boss remains keen on his fellow Welshman and is favourite to land the 23-year-old ahead of the likes of Roma, Galatasaray, Celtic and Everton.
