The Potters boss has been bolstering his backline so far this summer after the acquisition of free-agent defenders Jonathan Woodgate and Matthew Upson.

Stoke are keen on Tottenham duo Peter Crouch and Wilson Palacios, speculation chairman Peter Coates recently confirmed.

Pulis is unwilling to add any more fuel to the transfer fire, stating only that he will talk about transfers once they have been completed.

Stoke are certainly keen to add firepower to their frontline before the window shuts, although Pulis has laughed off potential talk they could move for Manchester City's out-of-favour Emmanuel Adebayor.

"What the chairman says, he says, but as far as I'm concerned deals should be done between clubs," he told Sky Sports News.

"I think too much gets out. We should really get on with it between club and club. You talk about one club and two individuals, but we've been talking to other clubs as well about other players.

"That's the way hopefully we'll do our business. When it happens, it happens.

"You (the media) can speculate because you have to fill your time and space and I understand it.

"I think we're looking for about five or six players if we can. We could do with desperately getting those players in as quickly as possible, but we have to do it within the structure of this football club.

"I can tell you we're not going for Adebayor," he added, in response to a question over interest in Joey Barton. "He's one we're not going for."
