Tony Pulis has admitted that Stoke City will find it difficult to improve on what they have achieved this season."To get to the final of the FA Cup, we could finish eighth and to be in Europe, it's not too bad," the Potters' manager told BBC Radio Stoke.
"I don't know where we kick on from there, unless we're going to get into the Champions League.
"You just try to improve in small steps, but we've had massive steps this year. It's been a wonderful season."
The FA Cup runners-up will guarantee a top-half finish in the Premier League if they beat Wigan at home on Sunday.
A 3-0 defeat against Manchester City at Eastlands on Tuesday leaves Stoke ninth in the table and on course to improve on their previous two seasons in the top flight.
The Potters finished 12th with 45 points in 2008/9 and improved by one place and two points in 2009/10.
They also reached the FA Cup final for the very first time in their 148-year history, but were beaten 1-0 by City at Wembley on Saturday.
While Stoke's safety has been assured for several weeks, the Latics go into the game at the Britannia Stadium on Sunday as one of five teams that could fill the two vacant relegation places.
"The game is big enough for the supporters to come along because it will be a competitive game," said Pulis.
"We'll be desperate to win, obviously they're desperate to win, so it should be a cracking match.
"We've got to make sure that we finish on a high to make everybody go away and recognise that it has been a quite remarkable season for this football club."
