Potters stars international match preview

Four have departed for todays games. Thomas Sorenson, although suspended for todays match, is with the Denmark squad, Liam Lawrence and Glenn Whelan are in Cyprus preparing for the Irish teams vital qualifier and Tuncay is getting ready to captain Turkey in their must win encounter at home to Estonia.

Ireland sit second in group 2 and need three points to retain any reasonable hope of passing italy at the top of the table and also to keep the vultures below away from the play off spot. A 5-2 defeat on their last trip to Cyprus went down as one the darkest nights in Irish footballing history and they will be hoping to use that as a way to make sure nothing is taken for granted. Whelan is expected to start but Lawrence will probably be forced to watch from the bench and will be hoping to be introduced and add to his international cap.

Denmark are flying high at the top of their group and a win today would make them virtually uncatchable but Portugal, who lie 3rd, are the team trying to stop them. Sorensons absence is a major blow for the Danes and they would probably see a point as a good result.

Turkey have two wins, two draws and two defeats from their six games and so desperately need a victory to give themselves a chance of victory. Tuncay will captain the side and Estonia need to be brushed aside before the midweek six pointer away at Bosnia.
