The Iceland striker failed to make an impression at the Britannia Stadium after joining from Monaco, and spent the end of the season on loan at Fulham.

Following him out of the exit door are Abdoulaye Faye and Ibrahima Sonko.

'Tough decision': Abdoulaye Faye has been an integral part of Stoke City's Premier League era

Faye, 33, has been with Stoke for every step of their three-year Premier League journey and manager Tony Pulis said of him: 'His contribution to getting this club to where it is today should never be forgotten.

'He loved this club and the supporters loved him, so in many respects it is sad to see him move on.

'But we are moving on and there are times when you have to make tough decisions.'
