Stoke opened up their pre-season campaign with a 3-1 victory over Austrian non-leaguers FC Thal.
City boss Tony Pulis fielded two completely different sides during the game in an encounter billed as nothing more than a 'glorified training session'.
City were level at the break but second half goals from Jon Walters, Michaek Tonge and a first ever Stoke goal for defender Andy Wilkinson saw them through to victory.
