Stoke are still well in the hunt for Preston North End midfielder Adam Barton.
Barton, 20, was the one shining light for North End last season as they were relegated from the Championship and City have kept a firm eye on the youngster after enquiring about his availability last summer.
The Potters are now reportedly ready to move and make Barton the clubs second summer signing but will have to hurry after recent speculation linked Premier League rivals Blackburn with a move for the central midfielder.
