Stoke defender Andrew Davies has left the Britannia Stadium for Crystal Palace, after securing a week long trial.

Davies, who cost £1.25m from Southampton in 2008, has made just four appearances for the Potters, and has been riddled with injuries during his three years stay with City. He has made just one start, in a  2-0 FA Cup defeat at Hartlepool, with just two Premier League appearances, both from the bench in 2008.

The ex-Middlesbrough defender, who can play anywhere across the backline, has had loan spells at Preston, Sheffield United, Walsall and Middlesbrough over the past three seasons but has returned every time with an injury.

Davies, 26, will now train for a week with Dougie Freedman's side, has the chance to impress in the Eagles latest friendly tonight.
