Owls to be penalised for breaking league rules

League rules state that only 5 loan players are allowed in the 16 players named on a matchday, and due to this Stoke were unable to call on either Paul Gallagher or Gabriel Zakuani at the weekend. Wednesday had 6 players in the sixteen, although only four were used on the day.

Despite the fact that one of the players, Songo'o, scored the equaliser, it is unlikely that Stoke will benefit in any way. The most likely punishment is a minimal fine like the £2,000 fine handed out to Leeds over a similar incident a few years ago.
