Official Statement on Ticket Prices, 2003-4

Last updated : 11 March 2003 By Tim Gallimore, Chair, SCFF

The Stoke City Fans Forum has clearly stated its position on prices. It has urged the club to look at ways to increase the number of season ticket sales, whilst acknowledging the need for the club to maximise revenue. Additionally, it has been concerned with the high prices for children at the Britannia Stadium.

The prices for next season have provided some positives. If supporters buy early, then the deal for children is very good and shows a return to family values at the club. The early-saver package, which includes an improved instalment plan, represents excellent value for the first division, though the Fans Forum would have liked the club to be even more radical in order to convert casual supporters to season ticket holders. Whilst being relieved that matchday prices have not risen, the Fans Forum also remains concerned that the incentive to buy season tickets may not be sufficient after the April deadline, particularly if the club pursues aggressive promotions next season such as the very successful and much-welcomed £5 Brighton deal. It therefore asks the club to keep an open mind and consider an improved discount for those delaying their buying decision until the end of the season. Meantime it will be the club's job to sell the prices and up to supporters to make up their own minds.

Finally the Forum would like to thank the club for listening to its views. The consultation process has been challenging but constructive and whilst accepting that club and representatives have not agreed on everything, the Fans Forum continues to make a very important contribution to improving the matchday experience for Stoke City supporters.
