The first of our pre-season friendlies was certainly a run about to give all the players a chance to impress and get back into competitive games before the season kicks off.

Most the players got a game and the side including goalkeeper differed in each half.

1st Half: Simonson, Harper (subbed on), Russell (subbed off), Broomes, Wilkinson, Duberry, Paterson, Kopteff, Brammer, Eustace, Blake, Rooney.

2nd Half: Duggan, Hoefkens, Dickinson, Buxton, Hill, Chadwick, Sigurdsson, Pulis, Henry, Sidibe, Pericard.

Just before half-time, Blake got on the end of a great pass from Dave Brammer and fire the first goal in from no more than 10 yards. Mamady Sidibe ensured his name was on the scoresheet in the 70th minute with a close range effort which he battled to gain the opening for.

In summary, the game went smoothly, no injuries as you would expect with Stoke's luck! Although Russel did get substituted off worryingly early in the game.

Eustace and Duberry looked in fine form, as did Sigurdsson (Man of the match) and Henry in the second half.

New Signing Pericard looked sharp in parts, but Stoke certainly need to add to their strike force if they are to be dangerous this season, especially with Bangoura gone AWOL! Perhaps this means the signing of Blake, who didn't look bad at all today, or another late purchase before the season begins.
