Last updated : 08 November 2009 By Dan Buxton
The Potters have made one change with Rob Huth, back from suspension, coming in for the unlucky Andy Wilkinson.

20 secs: Fuller burst forward and puts deep cross to Etherington. Left winger puts first time cross in. Ball strikes Mendy hand but ref waves away penalty claims

6 min: Bullard, making his home debut for Hull, shoots well over from 30 yards after being teed up by Altidore

8 min: Closer this time for the former England international as he checks inside before unleashing a powerful effort from a similar distance. This time Sorenson has to dive across his goal but the ball just flies the right side of the post.

11 min: First throw in for Delap and it is hacked into touch following a scramble

12 min: This throw is flicked back by Shawcross but nobody id on the edge of the 6-yard box and the ball is cleared. Fuller has a shot moments later that Duke spills and the ball is cleared by an alert defender

14 min: Shawcross catches Fagan with a tackle from behind and goes into the referee's book

19 min: Altidore drops deep to collect ball. Turn and shot from 25 yards but ball bobbles wide

20 min: Collins cross is headed down by Beattie. After striking defender it falls to Beattie again. He lays off to Etherington but shot is half blocked and loops into keepers arms

24 min: Etherington breaks clear and is cythed down by Mendy, who recieves a yellow card

25 min: Delap cross is touched by Fuller to Whitehead. Midfielder slices shot horribly wide

28 min: Hunt dinks a cross to Garcia at the back post but Collins does enough to put him off and a weak header is easily held by Sorenson

29 min: GOAL!! Etherington picks up a Shawcross through ball, races into the penalty area and smashes the ball past Duke to give the Potters the lead

32 min: Stoke free kick on the edge of the area is cleverly worked and nearly results in Fuller being put in. Whelan tapped it to Etherington, who shaped to shoot, who then laid it off to Beattie. The striker rolled the ball towards the 6-yard box but the Jamaican just couldn't get on the end of it

37 min: A spot of tennis in the Stoke area between the Potters defence and Garcia eventually see's the Australian find Altidore, but his header drifts wide

38 min: Stoke break from a corner with Sorenson finding Etherington. The scorer bombs forward before switching play for Whelan, who is in behind the defence. The Irishman just can't get hold of the ball and defenders recover to squeeze him out and clear the danger

41 min: Olofinjana spins Shawcross but rolls the ball behind everyone with the goal at his mercy

HT: The Potters have the lead, and probably deserve it. Whelan and Whitehead have struggled in the centre but Etherington is once again on fire and the sides main outlet.

48 min: Beattie fires free kick over from 25 yards

54 min: Superb football from Stoke as Etherington plays a 1-2 with Fuller before rolling the ball towards Beattie at the far post. The cross hits Gardner, spurts goalwards only for it to strike Duke and spin agonisingly wide with Beattie just not quick enough to pounce

56 min: Huth is dispossessed on half way, trying a Cruyff turn, and cynically hauls down Altidore to earn himself a yellow card

61 min: Kitson comes on for Beattie

62 min: GOAL!! Ex Stoke midfielder Olofinjana turns Whitehead before curling a shot into the top corner from 25 yards. Sorenson was unsighted and was unable to get to the shot as it looped over him and dropped under the bar

64 min: Whelan is booked for deliberate handball, a harsh decision, as he tried to get in on goal

66 min: Kitson nods to Fuller, who backheels into the run of Whitehead. The box-to-box midfielder is brought down on the edge of the box but referee says fair challenge.

67 min: Faye is booked after a bit of handbags with Barmby

70 min: Mass panic in the Stoke box as a long ball causes panic. Sorenson slides to meet but misses the ball, it got stuck under Fagan who, with Shawcross there putting him under pressure was forced to turn away from goal as he stood. Sorenson recovered and spread himself as the striker turned and shot, the ball flying over the bar.

81 min: Tuncay comes on for Fuller

83 min: Whelan dinks a free kick to Shawcross. The defender heads at goal and watches as the ball bounces off the crossbar

87 min: Faye recklessly slides in on Barmby and recieves a second yellow card and a red one to leave the Potters with 10 men.

88 min: Tuncay is replaced by Wilkinson

91 min: GOAL!! Bullard shot is pushed out by Sorenson and Vennegoor of Hesselink is there to prod home and win the game for Hull
