17th August 1987 - Born Aghagallon, Belfast

2000 - Joined Manchester United aged 13

2001 - Played for Northern Ireland's U15 side

2004 - Makes debut for Northern Ireland U17's

June 2004 - Signed for Portsmouth on a free transfer from Manchester United

September 2004 - Debuts for Republic of Ireland U18's sparking dispute of player allegiance between Republic and Northern Ireland. The dispute was only settled in June 2010, in the CAS, where it was permitted players with an Irish passport could choose which side of the border to represent

September 2005 - Debuts for Republic of Ireland U19's

March 2006 - Joins Yeovil on a months loan. Makes two appearances before returning to Portsmouth with an injury

October 2006 - Debuts for Republic of Ireland U21's

January 2007 - Joins Bournemouth on loan for the rest of the season, scoring three times in 19 games

July 2007 - Joins Bournemouth on three month loan deal, playing seven times before returning to Pompey

November 2007 - Joins Luton on loan but it is cut short after four appearances due to Town's administration

September 2008 - Makes Portsmouth debut as a sub in 4-0 Carling Cup defeat to Chelsea

December 2008 - Makes first Portsmouth start in 3-0 UEFA cup win over Heerenveen.

December 2008 - Makes Premier League debut in 4-1 defeat to West Ham

August 2009 - Sent home from Portsmouths pre-season tour, along with David Nugent, after the pair were involved in a bust up

March 2010 - Called up to the Republic of Ireland first team for the first time but doesn't play versus Brazil due to injury

May 2010 - Relegated with Portsmouth following clubs financial meltdown

July 2010 - Made permanent Pompey captain. At 22, one of the youngest in the clubs history

August 2010 - Joins Stoke in player-plus-cash deal and signs four-year-deal at Britannia Stadium
