He was the club's joint leading scorer last season with 12 goals, and helped Stoke reach the FA Cup final.

New deal: Jon Walters has extended his stay at Stoke

Pulis believes the new deal is a just reward for the 27-yar-old for the way in which he has risen to the challenge of playing at a higher level.

He said: 'I'm very pleased for Jon because he's come in as a lower-league player and established himself to play a part in the Premier League. In fact, he's done more than that.

'We're very pleased he's agreed a new deal and made sure his long-term future lies with us.'
