"It was a bad injury because I snapped the ankle ligaments," said Jarrett, "but I've played a couple of games recently, there's been no reaction and I'm naturally quite fit anyway" Jarrett told the sentinel.

"If I get the chance then it would be a great experience to play at Highbury. You have to grab opportunities like that when they come along" and he joked "I'd love to give Patrick Vieira a kick if I get the opportunity.

When asked if the Arsenal fixture swayed his decision to join the potters he said: "I can honestly say it had no bearing. Paul Jewell just thought this was a good chance to get some games to get fully fit again".

And on the future:

"As far as I know I'm still a Wigan player long term, but I am determined to enjoy my time here and do my best for the club."
