"If I hadn't played, I'd have been gutted because I'd have been left thinking I could have got through the game.
"I was a bit disappointed I couldn't get into the game and was struggling fitness-wise because of a back spasm, but it was still a memorable occasion for me.
"It was nice to go out and play against some old friends - and we've done ourselves quite proud out there."
