Ed wants another year

"Ed says he'd like to stay and I'd love him to stay, now it's a question of talking to those who make the decisions here", said Pulis.

"Ed may have lost his place of late, but his attitude to that has been first class, just what you'd expect from a man representing his country 30-odd times and winning silverware at Chelsea."

Steve Simonsen took De Goey's place at the beginning of this season and has been exceptional ever since - making it very difficult for a 'keeper of even Ed De Goey's standard to get into the first team.

"As for Steve, he's proving to be a fantastic free signing. His form has been outstanding", Pulis added.

"Steve is a bit like Ade Akinbiyi. He had fallen on hard times after once being talked of as an England goalkeeper, but since coming here he's been top notch. There can't be many better English goalkeepers around, and certainly none better in our league."
