Doyle would like Lawrence link-up

Wolves striker Kevin Doyle says he would love to link up with his international team-mate Liam Lawrence at Molineux if he leaves Stoke City.Lawrence, like Doyle, scored in the Republic of Ireland's 2-1 win over Paraguay and has said he would work with Wolves boss Mick McCarthy again.

"I love playing with Liam. He's a very nice lad as well," Doyle said.

"I wouldn't be surprised [if Wolves were interested in Lawrence] but he'd be a very good signing for us."

Lawrence, 28, was signed by McCarthy while he was in charge at Sunderland and has been with Stoke for the last three and a half years following a loan spell.

He expects to leave Stoke this summer but has played down reports that he is set to join Wolves despite being interested in a switch.

"If something did happen with Wolves, I certainly wouldn't turn my nose up at it, but I'm not saying in any shape or form that I'm wanting to leave to Stoke for Wolves at this moment," he told BBC Radio Stoke earlier this week.

Doyle, who finished the season as Wolves' leading goal-scorer, has also been distancing himself from speculation linking him with a move away from Molineux this summer.

The 26-year-old says he sees his future in the old gold part of the Black Country for a while yet.

"Of course. They've been brilliant to me and I've really enjoyed my time there," Doyle admitted.

"Until told otherwise, I'm very happy at Wolves. The usual speculation gets in the way."
