Potters hitman Richard Cresswell has signed for Sheffield United in a £500,000 deal.

Cresswell has been on loan at Bramall Lane after not figuring for the Potters inthe arly part of this season's league campaign.

The striker played near enough the whole of his Potters career on the left wing and was a vital member of the City squad that got that historic promotion to the top flight oin the 2007/8 season, scoring twelve goals, and then played a part in the opening half of last season before the Potters brought in a permanent left winger in Matthew Etherington who has excelled and kept the Yorkshireman out of the side.

The deal represents a good deal for Stoke having signed Cresswell for just £100,000 from Leeds in the summer of 2007.
