Ex-City striker Ade Akinbiyi has joined League Two Notts County on a free transfer.

Akinbiyi, 34, had recently been playing in the US for Houston Dynamo's but has been released and has decided that his short term future is at Meadow Lane.

The striker, who scored vital goals to help keep Stoke in the Championship and then establish them in the second tier, was a fans favourite for his all action displays and total commitment, just let down by his wayward finishing.

The Nigerian international played in the top flight for Leicester and has been transferred for a total of over £12m during his career.

Ade will now fight it out with a number of top strikers, for League Two, at County including Luke Rodgers and League Two top scorer Lee Hughes for a place in the first XI.
