"But things will just have to take their course. I am very delighted by the play-off victory and am looking forward to watching First Division Stoke City next year.
"Our five-year plan, set in place when the current board took over the club three years ago, is still in operation.
"We only have two years left to get in the Premiership and we will start by getting in the play-offs next year.
"Automatic promotion would perhaps be unrealistic to aim at but Preston and Millwall have both made the play-offs so there is no reason why Stoke shouldn't.
"We are hoping to give fans lots of good days in the future."
